Builders of oil rigs are now eligible for regional development grants, free depreciation for plant, and 40 per cent. initial allowances for new buildings. In addition, shipbuilders can receive tapering construction grants for building mobile offshore platforms; and a British or foreign firm placing an order for an offshore platform in the United Kingdom is given access to credit facilities comparable to those available abroad.
