HC Deb 05 February 1973 vol 850 c27W
Dame Joan Vickers

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what action she has taken to implement Recommendations Numbers 33 and 34 in the Report of the Fifth Commonwealth Education Conference.

Mrs. Thatcher

I assume that my hon. Friend has in mind the recommendations in the Report of Committee D (Chapter VI of Cmnd. 4688) which were directed towards encouraging education about the Commonwealth.

The Department of Education and Science does not control the school curriculum but has made available comprehensive information about sources of information on international and Commonwealth affairs suitable for use in schools. This information has recently been revised and is about to be published in a new booklet.
