§ Mr. Fordasked the Attorney-General how the costs of proceedings in an examination in bankruptcy are apportioned; and to what extent they are a charge upon public funds.
§ The Attorney-GeneralThe costs incurred in the public examination of a debtor in bankruptcy proceedings are a charge on the bankrupt's estate. If the bankrupt's assets are insufficient and the Official Receiver has acted for the creditors, the shortfall is met out of public funds. Where the creditors have appointed a trustee to act for them any excess costs are borne by them.
