HL Deb 01 February 1973 vol 338 cc826-7WA
LORD INGLEWOOD

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they accept the recommendations of the Kilbrandon Committee (Cmnd. 4011) on the Marriage Law of Scotland; and, if so, when they will be introducing the necessary legislation.

LORD POLWARTH

The Kilbrandon Committee undertook a valuable and comprehensive review of the Scottish marriage law and the recommendations of the Committee are broadly acceptable to the Government. The Government appreciate the importance of this matter but I regret that it is not yet possible to say when legislation will be introduced.
