HC Deb 19 December 1973 vol 866 cc340-1W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what annual production of coal would be required to keep the level of expenditure on crude oil and petroleum products at (a) £1,000 million per annum, (b) £1,500 million per annum and (c) £2,000 million per annum.

Mr. Tom Boardman

I have been asked to reply.

The answer to this Question requires an assumption to be made about future oil price levels, and in present circumstances this is a subject of such uncertainty that I am not prepared to make a firm forecast.
