§ Mrs. ThatcherThe report of the working party on school transport is being published today. It proposes new arrangements for the provision of school transport and the introduction of a system of charging for its use. I shall be seeking the views of the local authority associations in due course. The Government are not committed to the recommendations in the report, and, in considering them, both they and local authorities will need to take account of the economic situation and the implications for expenditure on school transport.
