HC Deb 18 December 1973 vol 866 c294W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer, at current prices of raw materials, what is the relative cost in the United Kingdom of heat from coal, oil and natural gas, respectively.

Mr. Tom Boardman

I have been asked to reply.

I regret that it is impossible to give an answer to this Question which will not be misleading. The cost of heat depends on many factors, such as the type of consuming appliance, the size and pattern of demand, the grade of fuel used, the efficiency of the appliance or plant, and the geographical location. The fuel industries can advise consumers on their own particular circumstances.
