HC Deb 11 December 1973 vol 866 c81W
Mr. Wolrige-Gordon

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what was the unemployment figure in Scotland at the latest available date; what was the figure of jobs vacant at the same date; and how these figures compare with June 1970.

Mr. Dudley Smith

Following is the information:

Unempolyed Unfilled vacancies
November 1973 79,599 26,875
June 1970 81,686 18,629

The figures are not adjusted to take account of seasonal factors.

The vacancy statistics relate only to vacancies notified to employment offices and careers offices and do not measure the total unsatisfied demand for labour.
