Mr. Edwin Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she will give the names of the new schools which are included in the present five-year building programme in the Mexborough and Staincross divisional education areas; and if she will make a statement on the future school building programme for these educational areas.

Mr. Raison

Building programmes for new schools in the Mexborough and Staincross divisions of the West Riding have been announced for years up to 1976–77. Including those being built at present, the schools are:

Worsborough Lob Wood Infants

Wombwell Aldham Primary

Wombwell Kings Road Junior

Bolton on Dearne Carfield Lane Primary

Conisbrough Windhill Primary

Mexborough Highwoods Junior

Rawmarsh CE (Aided) Primary

Swinton Fitzwilliam Junior

Mexborough Windhill Junior

Darton Mapplewell Junior

Schools in the Mexborough and Staincross divisions will become the responsibility of the new Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham Metropolitan Districts from April 1974. Future school building proposals will be submitted by these authorities.
