§ Mr. Madelasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate of the revenue he will receive from motor vehicle 499W licences in the current financial year ; and what were the figures for the two previous years.
§ Mr. HigginsThe estimate for 1973–74 is about £520 million. This figure is higher than earlier estimates. The increase of some £30 million reflects a once-for-all speeding up in the cash flow as a result of the introduction of centralised banking arrangements. The receipts for 1972–73 were £477 million and those for 1971–72 were £465 million.
