§ 27. Mrs. Sally Oppenheimasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will consider the setting up of a body similar to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.
§ Mr. LaneMy right hon. Friend is not convinced that such a body is needed in this country. The Home Office, together with other Departments, has a continuing concern to ensure that goods sold to the public are safe. Moreover the newly appointed Director General of Fair Trading also has important duties in this field.
