§ Mr. George Cunninghamasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many officers in the Treasury are concerned wholly or partly with questions of overseas aid ; and what is his estimate of the equivalent in terms of full-time service.
§ Mr. Nott,pursuant to his reply [OFFICIAL REPORT, 3rd December 1973 ; Vol. 865, c. 275] gave the following information :
Seventeen officers are concerned wholly or partly with questions of overseas aid and certain wider aspects of overseas development. Because of variations in the pattern of work in the divisions concerned, it is not possible to make a precise estimate of the equivalent in terms of full-time service ; but 424W currently the full-time equivalent is perhaps of the order of nine officers, including half the time of an under-secretary, one assistant secretary, two and a half principals and one senior executive officer. These figures exclude officers above under-secretary level, and secretarial and clerical support staff.
