asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (1) whether the list of the 88 businesses in Chile which the new Government are intending to return to their former owners includes any British firms ; and if so, what are the names or activities of such firms ;

(2) how many British companies were sequestrated by the previous Government of Chile ; and in what spheres they operated.

No British companies were sequestrated by the previous Government of Chile ; no British company is therefore on the list of those to be returned.
