HC Deb 04 December 1973 vol 865 cc355-6W
Mr. Stratton Mills

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether, in view of the fact that under the former system of local government a house purchaser in the Belfast area submitted a local government search certificate to the Belfast Corporation, and under the new system he submits three applications, first to the Housing Executive, second to the Ministry of Development, and a third to the Belfast Corporation, he will review this procedure.

Interim Custody Orders Detention Orders Internment Orders
(A) Under the Civil Authorities (Special Powers) Act (Northern Ireland) 1922 1,259 796
(B) Under the Detention of Terrorists (Northern Ireland) Order 1972 445 436
(C) Under the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1973 133 43

No internment orders were made after the introduction of direct rule.

Mr. David Howell

Each of the three authorities referred to can furnish certified information only in respect of the services for which it is directly responsible. For one body to act as co-ordinator might lengthen the time taken to deal with applications. The matter will, however, be kept under review.
