HC Deb 04 December 1973 vol 865 c366W
Captain W. Elliot

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she will list the principal duties carried out by her Department in the exercise of its jurisdiction over the educational charity known as HMS "Conway", in accordance with the Charities Act 1960 ; and if she will make a statement.

Mr. Raison

The Conway Cadet School Company, which provided the premises in which this school is conducted, has been registered as a charity ; and officers of my Department have recently given informal advice to representatives of the company about the disposal of its interest in the premises when the local education authority ceases to maintain the school. My right hon. Friend does not expect to take any other action under the Charities Act in relation to this company before February 1974, when her functions under the Act will be transferred to the Charity Commissioners.
