HC Deb 04 December 1973 vol 865 c345W
Mr. Roderick

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what special provision he is making for the employment of physically handicapped pupils when they leave school.

Mr. Dudley Smith

My Department is responsible for the Youth Employment Service. Careers officers of the service are available to help physically handicapped school leavers to obtain suitable employment, with the assistance, as necessary, of employment medical advisers, disablement resettlement officers, local authority social services and voluntary organisations. The need for further provision will no doubt be examined by the forthcoming public inquiry into the educational needs of handicapped children, which was announced by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Education and Science on 22nd November.
