§ 32. Mr. Alec Jonesasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what estimate he has made of the effect that the new rate support grant structure will have on Wales as a whole and on mid-Glamorgan during the year 1974–75.
§ Mr. Graham PageMy right hon. and learned Friend has not yet announced his decisions on the grant distribution arrangements for 1974–75. Rate burdens in particular areas will depend not only on the grant receivable, but also on the decisions which the new authorities will be taking about their expenditure next year, bearing in mind that they will no longer be responsible for sewerage or local health services, and the new 90 per cent. grants for awards to students.
§ 31. Mr. Elystan Morganasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish a White Paper to explain 265W the likely effects of the changes in rate support grants upon local government in Wales.
§ Mr. Graham PageMy right hon. and learned Friend expects to publish a White Paper about rate support grants for 1974–75 shortly.
