HC Deb 03 December 1973 vol 865 cc287-8W
Mrs. Monks

asked the Minister for the Civil Service if he will reconsider the position of the Ministry of Defence Police, who have been excluded from the decision by the Pay Board which accepts the position of non-industrial civil servants as "anomalous".

Mr. Kenneth Baker

The circumstances of the review of the pay of the Ministry of Defence Police have been fully considered by the Pay Board in the context of its report on anomalies created by the standstill and in the light of the Price and Pay Code for Stage 3 of the Counter-Inflation Policy. The Government accepted the recommendations of the Pay Board on the criteria which should govern the rectification of anomalies and they were incorporated in the code. Since the board does not consider that the Ministry of Defence Police case satisfies those criteria, I am afraid that there are no grounds for reconsideration of their case at the present time.
