§ Mr. Skeetasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will identify the principal non-tariff barriers that impede United Kingdom trade with its EEC partners and indicate what steps are being taken to mitigate their effects.
§ Sir G. HoweThese non-tariff barriers to trade are essentially no different from those which operate elsewhere. The Summit communiqué of October 1972 called for the elimination of such barriers as one of the measures needed to establish a single industrial base for the Community as a whole. Her Majesty's Government are actively participating in the task of formulating and adopting Community measures to this end.
