§ Mr. Skeetasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on the working of the International Sugar Agreement in safeguarding the interests of emergent States in the absence of the United States of America and the EEC from the list of members.
§ Mr. Anthony StodartFollowing its entry into force on 1st January 1969, the present International Sugar Agreement was, despite the absence of the Community and the United States from its membership, a major factor in raising the world market price of sugar from its previous very depressed level, and in introducing greater stability into world sugar market conditions. By so doing, it has assisted all countries which export sugar to the world market, in particular the developing exporting ones.
