§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what would be the capital cost of providing 4,883 beds in new hospitals, of staffing them with full medical, nursing and ancillary personnel and of providing all services for 122,000 patients.
§ Mr. AlisonThe cost of building and running hospitals depends on the medical needs of the types of patient to be treated. New district general or similar hospitals would not be built to provide such a combination of numbers of beds and numbers of patients treated.
