asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many houses are at present empty in Northern Ireland; and in what areas these are situated.

The last detailed count of empty houses, at the 1971 census, showed that there were 19,500 vacant houses in Northern Ireland, including 5,700 in Belfast and 390 in Londonderry.
