§ Mr. Anthony GrantI regret that precise figures of new jobs created in both the manufacturing and service sectors are not available. Applicants for industrial development certificates issued estimated that the following additional jobs would arise when the projects were complete and fully manned:
Industrial Development Certificates Approved for Schemes of 15,000 sq. ft. and over Year Estimated additional employment 1968 8,060 1969 9,010 1970 7,810 1971 4,970 1972 11,880
§ Mr. Edwin Wainwrightasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many new jobs have been created in the Yorkshire and Humberside Region under the new Industry Act.
§ Mr. Anthony Grant1,300 new jobs are being created by selective assistance applications so far approved. A further 3,300 jobs are involved in applications now being processed. As explained in my 193W reply of 26th March to the hon. Member for Sheffield, Attercliffe (Mr. Duffy) selective assistance figures do not include further job opportunities arising from regional development grants.—[Vol. 853, c 213.]
