HC Deb 06 April 1973 vol 854 c178W
Mr. Golding

asked the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications what steps he is taking to monitor the quality and coverage of UHF transmission of television; whether he will make his studies public; and whether he will make a statement on the extent to which the people will be consulted on necessary supplements.

Sir J. Eden

I have accepted the Television Advisory Committee's recommendation that the extent and quality of the coverage attained by the UHF transmissions as they are extended should be monitored by the BBC, IBA and my Ministry. Field studies were made by the committee last year and UHF coverage must be extended further before more studies can usefully be made.
