HC Deb 06 April 1973 vol 854 c163W
Mr. Biffen

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations have been received concerning proposed imports of liquid milk from the Irish Republic; what answers have been given; and if he will make a statement clarifying the extent to which such shipments may now take place on account of European Economic Community legislation.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

One company has inquired about the conditions governing imports of milk from the Irish Republic. It has been informed that, in accordance with EEC regulation 480/73, imports of bulk milk into the United Kingdom are subject to the payment of a deposit which may be refunded in full or in part if the milk is used for manufacture.
