HC Deb 06 April 1973 vol 854 c177W
Captain Orr

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland under What conditions it is his intention that plans for farmyard development in Northern Ireland should be required to have planning permission.

Mr. Peter Mills

Under Article 11 of the Planning (Northern Ireland) Order 1972, which is scheduled to come into effect on 1st October 1973, all building operations will constitute "development" for which planning permission will be required. However, it is the intention to make a general development order under Article 13 of the 1972 order granting planning permission for certain specified classes of development. One of these classes will relate to certain types of agricultural development but the exact range of this class has still to be determined; before this is done there will be further consultations With the Ministry of Agriculture for Northern Ireland and farming interests in Northern Ireland.
