HC Deb 04 April 1973 vol 854 cc101-2W
Mr. Ralph Howell

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how much wheat has so far been denatured; and what is the total amount paid in denaturing payments to farmers and to merchants, respectively.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

The quantity of wheat denatured by admixture from 1st February to 22nd March was approximately 36,000 tons.

Subsidy on about 19,000 tons, amounting to approximately £134,000 has been paid to date. No breakdown of these figures between farmers and merchants is available without a disproportionate charge on public funds.
