HL Deb 04 April 1973 vol 341 c404WA
LORD REIGATE

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What proportion of defendants refused bail have been subsequently granted it on application to a judge in chambers or in a Crown Court.

VISCOUNT COLVILLE OF CULROSS

In 1972, about 8.5 per cent. of applications for bail to a judge in chambers were successful. I regret that comparable figures for the Crown Court are not available.

House adjourned at twenty-three minutes past nine o'clock.
