asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if the terms of reference given to the Criminal Law Revision Committee relating to penalties for offences against the person and homicide enabled the committee to consider the desirability of reintroducing capital punishment as a penalty for murder.

No. The committee has been askedTo review the law relating to, and the penalties for, offences against the person, including homicide, in the light of, and subject to, the recent decision of Parliament to make permanent the statutory provision abolishing the death penalty for murder.
