HL Deb 03 April 1973 vol 341 c268WA
THE EARL OF SELKIRK

asked Her Majesty's Government whether the B.B.C. or Post Office have ceased issuing reminders for the payment of television and radio licences.

LORD DENHAM

The Post Office, not the B.B.C., is responsible for operating the broadcast receiving licensing system. Reminders for payment of television licences are issued by the Post Office. Radio licences were abolished in 1971. If my noble friend has details of any case where a television licence reminder has not been sent, my right honourable friend the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications will be pleased to investigate it.

House adjourned at twenty minutes before nine o'clock.
