§ Mr. Fauldsasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether she will aproach the Church Commissioners with a view to the setting-up of a Church Treasures Museum in a suitable redundant church in each diocese of the Church of England, and give a grant for such purposes.
§ Mr. St. John-StevasIt is for the church authorities to decide how church treasures are best safeguarded. In many cases church property has been placed on loan in museums. Both the national and the local museums receive grants for the acquisition of articles of outstanding 61W importance; these are available if the churches decided that disposal is the most satisfactory policy. It is not for my noble Friend to suggest what solution should be adopted.
