§ Mr. Sheldonasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what action he intends to take if he is dissatisfied with the replies he receives from his letters to leading retailers asking for information on how they are assessing the savings on SET and how they intend to pass on these savings to the public.
§ Sir G. HoweIn the light of assurances I have received I am confident that the great majority of retailers will adjust their prices fairly in respect of SET savings. If necessary, I am prepared to use the powers given me by Section 12 of the Counter-Inflation Act 1973.
