asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what recent consultations he has held in regard to the reform of company law; and what recent representations he has received.

Sir G. Howe

I have consulted a wide range of interested parties and representative organisations concerned with the operation of company law. They are providing many comments and proposals which are being carefully examined in my Department.

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will publish a Green Paper embodying his proposals to reform company law; and if he will make a statement.

I hope to make known in due course and in an appropriate form my proposals for reform of company law.

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will seek powers to make the management audit a statutory requirement for public companies.

I will take into account, in my review of company law, proposals of various kinds for improving the efficiency of company management.

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will seek to reform the law in regard to insider trading.

Sir G. Howe

I hope to make provision in a companies Bill for dealing with problems of insider trading.
