HL Deb 11 September 1972 vol 335 c194WA
LORD STRABOLGI

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will publish the names of all the museums and other similar institutions which are eligible under Schedule 25 of the Finance Act (1972) for unlimited exemption from estate duty in respect of pecuniary bequests made to them.

EARL JELLICOE

My Lords, I am sending the noble Lord a copy of the Press Notice issued on April 11 this year which gave a list of institutions which the Treasury are prepared to approve as national museums or similar national institutions. Other institutions seeking approval in this category should consult the Treasury. University libraries used for teaching and research and local authority and university museums and galleries also qualify under Schedule 25. But it would not be feasible to publish a list of all these bodies.

House adjourned at five minutes before midnight.
