HC Deb 26 October 1972 vol 843 c356W
9. Mr. Green

asked the Minister of State for Defence whether, in view of the shortage of aircraft repair work at the Preston factory of the British Aircraft Corporation, there are plans to allocate more defence repair work to that firm.

Lord Balniel

Following preliminary studies by BAC on a major avionics refit for the RAF's Jet Provost training aircraft, it has been decided that, subject to satisfactory contract arrangements, BAC should also carry out the work of incorporating the new equipment in the aircraft. This should help to ensure a viable workload for its Preston factory.
