HC Deb 24 October 1972 vol 843 c238W
Mr. Harold Walker

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what consultations he is now having with a view to classifying occupational deafness as a registered industrial injury or disease.

Mr. Dean

The Industrial Injuries Advisory Council is considering whether there are degrees of noise-induced hearing loss which satisfy the conditions for prescription as an industrial disease, and in the course of its inquiry it has obtained evidence from a wide range of interested organisations and persons. The need for further consultations will be considered when the report of the council is received.
