HC Deb 24 October 1972 vol 843 c216W
Mr. Bruce-Gardyne

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement regarding the attitude of Her Majesty's Government towards the proposals for the harmonisation of monetary policies in the enlarged European Community, following the meeting of Finance Ministers in Rome in September.

Mr. Patrick Jenkin

The Government welcome the agreement reached at the meeting of Finance Ministers in Rome on 12th September to explore the scope for joint Community action against inflation. Possible measures in various areas, including monetary policy, which are now under consideration must, of course, take account of the particular economic situation of the individual countries.
