Whether they agree with the three recommendations on page 15 of the report on the accident to aircraft G-AYPN (Civil Aircraft Accident Report 13/72); and, if so, what steps they propose to take to implement them.
§ THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDERSECRETARY OF STATE, DEPARTMENT OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY (THE EARL OF LIMERICK)The Department has drawn the attention of the Civil Aviation Authority to the recommendations in the report. The Authority, whose safety functions embrace the matters referred to, reported in a statement issued on October 6 the action taken and being taken. On the first recommendation, regarding the logging of flights, they drew attention to an information circular giving advice on the matter which was issued on March 27. On the second, which is directed primarily to police authorities, the Civil Aviation Authority is in touch 2137WA with the Home Office on the steps required for implementation; on the third, which relates to the development of a carbon monoxide detector for aircraft cabins, the Authority stated that it has already a study of this matter in hand.
