HC Deb 23 October 1972 vol 843 c190W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he is aware that many of the immigrant Ugandan Asians entering Great Britain have banking accounts in British banks and numbered accounts in Switzerland; and to what extent, before financial grants, welfare payments and housing assistance is granted to these persons, they are asked to declare these reserves.

Mr. Dean

For the purposes of entitlement to help under the supplementary benefits scheme the resources of Ugandan Asians are taken into account, to the extent that they are available, in the same way as those of other claimants.
