Dame Irene Wardasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what action he is taking on the recommendations contained in the recent Northern Economic Planning Committee's Report and in particular if he will ensure that in the promised dispersal of civil servants from London the North-East Region will have parity with Scotland.
§ Mr. Anthony GrantThe planned dispersal of Civil Service offices is a matter for my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Secretary, Civil Service Department, but I have been asked to assure my hon. Friend that locations in the Northern Region, including the North-East, are being carefully considered amongst other places in the current review. No decisions have yet been taken, and no assurances can be given.
