HC Deb 23 October 1972 vol 843 cc174-5W
50. Mr. Bishop

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on his most recent discussions with the Japanese on their export of ball bearings to Great Britain.

Mr. Chataway

As the House is aware, my right hon. Friend's discussion with Japanese Ministers took place early in June. Since then, the Japanese ball bearing industry has decided to limit its exports to this country to 2,550 tons this year and to 2,805 tons in 1973.
