HC Deb 18 October 1972 vol 843 c93W
Dame Irene Ward

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will seek to ascertain and set out the names of subsidiary companies which have been established in Europe and elsewhere by companies in Great Britain; and what approximately these are individually worth in terms of trade to Great Britain.

Mr. Noble

The names and countries of incorporation of overseas subsidiary companies of British companies are required to be stated in the accounts which are available for public inspection. Much of this information is also available in reference publications such asWho Own Whom. Details of trade between British companies and individual subsidiary companies are not available, but it is estimated that in 1970 about 14 per cent. of United Kingdom exports consisted of exports by British companies to their overseas branches or to overseas subsidiary or associated companies.
