HC Deb 17 October 1972 vol 843 c49W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will take steps to compel local authorities with planning powers to circulate to other local authorities within 20 miles of their boundaries details of any industrial development applications for examination by adjoining local authorities to enable them to comment before permission is given; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Graham Page

No. A local planning authority must consult any neighbouring local planning authority if the proposed development would affect land in the latter's area. Work is proceeding on the preparation of advice to authorities on the exercise of planning powers to obviate the creation of new problems of atmospheric pollution.
