HC Deb 17 October 1972 vol 843 c47W
Mr. Hardy

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will state the number of council tenants currently paying rents which will provide £26 or more extra rent during the current financial year and the number of tenants paying rents which will provide at least £26 less rent during this period.

Mr. Amery

An estimated 2¼ million council tenants in England and Wales are paying rent increases yielding £26 in 1972–73. I am not in a position to estimate the number of tenants who are paying a decreased rent.
