HL Deb 16 October 1972 vol 335 cc1662-3WA
LORD BARNBY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Why, in view of diverse events arising from the actions of the Uganda Government, which appear " to have endangered the peace ", our representative at the United Nations does not seem to have been instructed to seek support for any resolution of condemnation of Uganda similar in character to a recent resolution condemning Israel for actions of reprisal against flagrantly hostile actions towards Israeli nationals.

BARONESS TWEEDSMUIR OF BELHELVIE

Action in the Security Council on events near the Uganda/Tanzania border would be unlikely to reduce tension as long as neither of the parties chiefly concerned was willing to bring the matter before the Council.
