§ Mr. Loveridgeasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she will give the reasons why the representatives of the Union of Women Teachers are not accorded representation on the national salaries negotiating body.
§ Mr. St. John-StevasIt has been the practice of my right hon. Friend and her predecessors not to change the composition of the Burnham Primary and Secondary Committee unless and until there is clear evidence that the Committee has become unrepresentative of the relevant interests, and to seek as far as practicable a consensus among the parties before making changes. My right hon. Friend is not at present convinced that she would be justified in extending membership of the Burnham Committee to include the Union of Women Teachers.
