§ 64. Mr. Wolrige-Gordonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland why the announcement of the Government's plan for the construction of extensive new port facilities for oil rig vessels in the Peterhead Harbour of Refuge and the appointment of an advisory board to assist the Secretary of State in the commercial development of the harbour was not made in Peterhead.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellI am glad to say that my noble friend the Minister of State was able to make the decision known in Peterhead on 17th November before meeting the Press in Aberdeen on the same day. In view of the importance of the announcement it was felt that every effort should be made to ensure maximum Press coverage and it was considered that this could best be achieved 149W by a Press conference in Aberdeen, the regional centre of the Press.
