§ Mr. Godber17th October is the latest date for which the figures collected for the index of retail prices are available. They show an average of 12.8p per lb. for dessert applies compared with 8.5p per lb. last year. the less comprehensive surveys which the Ministry makes at more frequent intervals indicate that, between that date and 21st November, the retail price of dessert apples had continued to rise.
