§ Mr. Loveridgeasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce legislation to clarify the legal position regarding aircrew on British aircraft who use firearms to protect their aircraft, themselves and their passengers from piracy.
§ Mr. R. CarrUnder Section 3(1) of the Criminal Law Act 1967 any person may use such force as is reasonable in the circumstances in the prevention of crime or in effecting or assisting in the lawful arrest of offenders or suspected offenders or of persons unlawfully at large. I do not think there is any need to introduce legislation specially relating to aircrew.
