Mr. R. C. Mitchellasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will announce before the end of 1972 the maximum attendance allowance payable to councillors under Section 173 of the Local Government Act, 1972.
§ Mr. Graham PageI have opened consultations on this subject with the local authority associations, but these are unlikely to be completed by the end of the year. I intend to announce the maximum figure in good time before the elections next spring.
